Jenn’s Hometowns: Season 21, Episode 6
The one where Jenn fell for ever single guy she has left.
Hello! It’s the best episode of the season, hometowns! Let’s just get right into it.
Devin—Houston, TX
Family: Jennifer (mom), Temo (dad), Gary (grandpa), Phyllis (grandma), Pierce (brother), Todd (stepdad)
Y’all, Devin hates Jenn. He truly hates her because for his hometown date, he took her running with his “friends” (anyone else feel like his friends were giving paid actors?). They are in Houston fucking Texas, why are they running, especially in the middle of the day, outside!? There are so many great things to do in Houston.
We don’t even get much time with Devin’s friends. I think they ask what’s the most romantic thing he’s done for Jenn and that’s it. Instead, it looks like they all actually ran together because they’re sweating by the end of the date.
Before the day ends, Jenn gets to meet Devin’s dog, Charlie. She’s a cutie.
Walking up to Devin’s house, there’s a stereotypical suburban yard sign welcoming Devin and Jenn. Did anyone else get these for their birthdays growing up, or just me? 😂
Before heading in to meet the family, we get a rundown of who is inside, and Devin seems incredibly nervous. More nervous than I’ve seen in a while during a hometown date. He actually seems to like Jenn and I would love that for her, had the internet not shared his political views and exposed him as someone with very little critical thinking skills.
Devin sits down with his father and quickly admits that he loves Jenn (he’ll quickly admit it to his mom later too), which was unexpected to me. His dad says he can see the chemistry between the two of them, but wants Devin to be mindful that there are other men left. Fair point dad.
I always find it interesting when we get the backstory of a contestant’s rocky relationship with a parent, but then we see said parent at the hometown date. Devin explained to Jenn during their running date, that even though he and his dad’s relationship hasn’t always been the greatest, he still cares about his opinion and so that’s why he was there. I guess I’m just messy and always curious if production makes people’s estranged family members show up, or if it happens more naturally.
Throughout the night, different family members bring up often that their family hasn’t had the best luck with relationships and it feels so ominous. Like there is more that isn’t being said. People get divorced sometimes, have babies outside of marriage, and cheat. Those things can certainly be tough and even traumatic, but I finished his hometown segment wondering what was behind those comments and if it was a foreshadowing of what’s to come for him and Jenn.
At the end of the night, before saying goodbye Devin tells Jenn he loves her and Jenn returns it by saying she’s falling even deeper for him. Seems like she’s holding that four-letter word for her final choice/at the engagement, which I can understand being the lead.
Jeremy—Fairfield, CT
Family: Karen (mom), Michael (mom’s husband), Lindsay (big sister), Alex (Lindsay’s finacé), Emily (little sister)
Jenn says it’s crazy that she’s in Connecticut meeting Jeremy’s family and I have to agree because I literally thought he was someone else until the last episode.
We are once again seeing another date where Jenn is forced to do something free for no fucking reason. Were restaurants and cozy bars not an option for these dates? They are at Stew Leonard’s, one of those weird grocery stories that are on TikTok all the time. When we said we wanted grocery store dates, this isn’t what we meant. Give us a date where the couple remakes a family recipe and has to shop for all the ingredients in a short amount of time.
Then, they randomly see Jeremy’s aunt and it seems like it was actually a random sighting and not a producer-manipulated moment. They pick out a flower bouquet for Jeremy’s mom and head to his family’s home.
Going into meeting the family, Jenn is a bit worried because Jeremy hasn’t expressed his feelings to her. She’s looking to understand if he’s ready for an engagement by the end of this.
As they share how they met and what the first few weeks of the journey were like, we get a producer interview with Jeremy’s mom, Karen, where she says that she watched Jenn’s Bachelorette announcement and thought that who Jenn described she was looking for is not who Jeremy is. That’s some telling foreshadowing I’m sure.
Both Jeremy’s mom and little sister are not feeling this process. They’re skeptical about how deeply Jenn and Jeremy know one another in a short amount of time. His sister wonders if he’s being himself around Jenn and his mom is trying to press upon him that despite the cameras, this is not a game, it’s real life. Jeremy and Jenn admit to his mom that they could do better about talking about the deep and hard stuff, but agree they’ll work on it.
The couple checks in at the end of the date and Jenn asks Jeremy if he’s truly ready for an engagement, he says yes. He also shares that he’s falling for her and that Jenn makes him so happy. I lowkey believe him. I think Jeremy went into this entire process with no expectations, and so he’s just been open to whatever and it landed him in the final four.
Despite the confession of love, Jenn isn’t convinced he’ll be ready for what she expects at the end of this journey.
Jonathan—San Diego, CA
Family: Lisa (mom), Mitch (dad), Zach (brother), Emily (sister-in-law), Kristy (sister)
I love Jonathan and Jenn’s chemistry. They seem like two big kids who are best friends. They also look so cute together!
For their date, they’re playing lacrosse, a sport they both played in college. After playing around a bit, they sit down to chat about how Jonathan is struggling to open up to Jenn and be vulnerable with her. He explains that he’s working on it, but also doesn’t want to say anything (like I love you) before he knows he means it and why he feels the way he does. I respect it. Last week Sam was saying I love you like it was his daily Starbucks order, so to have a man be intentional about what he says, love to see it!
Jonathan’s family has such good energy. Of all the families, they seemed the most welcoming and inviting. Or maybe they’re just the family I’d want to meet the most.
Pretty quickly, Jonathan’s brother and sister-in-law praised the process of a quick relationship because they met online and said they were in love by the third date. Now they’ve been together for seven years and married for four. Definitely encouraging.
The conversation that stuck out the most to me was the one between Jonathan and his mom. He asked her if Jenn was a person she could see him with long term and she said yes very quickly, which made Jonathan tear up. He’s scared to go all in with the men left in the process.
Overall, his entire family encourages him to lean in and go for it so he ends the date admitting that he’s falling in love with Jenn and she says it back. Cue the swelling romantic music and b-roll of a steamy makeout. I can’t deny, they are very cute together.
Marcus—Tacoma, WA
Family: Gabriella (little sister), Scott and Sue (military mentors)
Marcus and Jenn are spending their date at a gathering of Marcus’ closest friends turned family. There are a lot of people there, but unlike Devin’s group of friends, these people actually seemed like they knew and liked Marcus.
Scott and Marcus speak first and Marcus admits that right now he’s stuck in the “I really like you, but don’t know if I see a future here” stage with Jenn. Scott encourages him to be honest about how he’s feeling.
There were a lot of tears in Marcus’ hometown from everyone involved. But I couldn’t fully figure out why. Now that we know he isn’t the Bachelor—although I stand by my belief that he was getting the Bachelor edit—I’m wondering if Jenn actually likes him. Personally, I don’t see it. Marcus still seems stiff and uncomfortable.
Marcus and Jenn share they are falling for one another before saying their goodbyes. So formulaic. Almost too formulaic.
Beers with the Bros
Production had time to fill because these guys are kinda mid so we get this scene of the final four meeting up for a beer in a really loud bar (seriously, the background noise was so distracting).
They share high-level details of how their hometowns went and they all seem annoyingly confident—cocky even. Except for Marcus, hearing the men gush about their hometown makes him feel like he’s behind in the process. He admits he has reservations about how he’s feeling and he’s afraid of going into an engagement. He asks the other guys if they can relate to that feeling and they just shake their heads and sip on their beers. They may feel the same way, but they aren’t gonna admit it on camera, bro.
The Final Three
Jenn is wearing a stunning white gown with a high slit and silver stilettos and she looks stunning. Even the white fur shawl is a beautiful addition. She looks like an ice queen.
Her first rose goes to Devin, which was to be expected. Jonathan got the second rose and when Jenn said his name, the camera also caught Jeremy’s “oh shit, I’m going home” face. The final rose goes to Marcus and I thought at that point he was going to turn down the rose given his doubts, but he doesn’t.
Fantasy Suite Week is next week as well as The Men Tell All. Looks like while Jenn is ready to go all in with Marcus, he can’t return the favor, and Jonathan and Devin have problems of their own. We’ll see what that’s about.
Who do y’all think she picks in the end? I think she ends up alone. We’ll find out soon!
Until next week ✌🏾
