Paradise is Open: Bachelor In Paradise, Season 8
Things are heating up in Mexico, but I’m slowing down.
A week after the clusterfuck that was Gabby and Rachel’s finale, we’re back with the perfect pallet cleanser: Bachelor in Paradise 🏝! I was so excited to see contestants I actually know on my screen.
Oddly enough, I go into Paradise seasons with high hopes for long-term relationships, engagements, and even a marriage or two to come out of them. Bachelor Data posted a graphic today showing the breakdown of successful relationships on BIP and surprisingly, the success rate is similar to Bachelor/Bachelorette, though it is hard to compare when multiple couples can come out of Paradise, while only one comes out of the other shows of the franchise.
I had every intention to recap this season, but then I looked at my travel schedule for work + freelance assignments through December and realized that simply would not be realistic. So instead I’ll be giving some very low-stakes takes on my Twitter, @BKBachTakes. Catch me there all season.
Predictions
Despite my decision to not recap weekly here, I do still have some predictions for the season. I’ll also be popping in with Bachelor Nation news updates every once in a while.
I don’t think anyone gets engaged this season. All of these people so far seem too honest and realistic to fall into that trap. We also normally get a season teaser with at least a hand or two with a ring on it and we haven’t gotten that (yet) so that leads me to believe that maybe no one gets (or stays) engaged at the end of this. The couples I think will make it to the end are:
Andrew and Teddi
Brandon and Serene
I’m not too sure about anyone else. I’d love to add Michael and Sierra to that list, but I’m not yet convinced. I think Michael is waiting for someone particular to come down to the beach but won’t say who until he sees them.
Kira has the most sex. This is not shade, nor judgment. Sis was a doctor during a pandemic that half the country still thinks was fake and is also a Black woman who had to navigate a white industry in the midst of that shit too. Take some time off and get freaky sis. I support it!
Despite the rumored Casa Amor, I think the couples in relationships stay faithful. I’ve never watched Love Island, but it has been heavily rumored that BIP is taking a page out of their book and shaking it up with a twist where the original women will be sent away after making connections and new women brought in. I’m here for this addition and hope the women get a chance to meet new guys too. But no matter who comes down to the beach, I think the couples who are monogamous won’t be tempted.
That’s all I got this week y’all! Are you watching Paradise, any predictions? Come chat with me on Twitter.
If Twitter isn’t your seen (I get it) I’ll catch you in January for Zach’s season of the Bachelor ✌🏾
